SPUR’s Agenda for Change

Exhibit Design

SPUR believes that cities are the key to our future. SPUR’s mission is to promote good planning and good government through research, education and advocacy. The exhibition design captures SPUR’s guiding principles through a series of poster like graphics surrounded by regional images and stats (in this case, San Jose). The intent was to create an exhibit that could be reproduced in other regional cities of SPUR’s network.

The following is the introduction to the exhibit: Cities bring people together for every imaginable purpose. They foster economic innovation. They facilitate the invention of new art forms and new political movements. And they hold the answer to our ecological problems, from the destruction of natural lands to the onset of climate change. High-density city living minimizes humanity’s footprint on the planet while making it possible for people to walk, bike and take transit — the solution to lowering carbon emissions from our species.

SPUR works to channel the Bay Area’s growth into the existing cities of our region and to make sure those cities live up to their highest potential. Our mission is to promote good planning and good government through research, education and advocacy. A member-supported nonprofit organization, we play the crucial role of uniting citizens to jointly craft solutions to the biggest problems our cities face.
